A good starting point when looking at viking's documentation is the users manual.
Many users contributed viking's tutorials on their own web site. Here is a collection of links.

I opened a GPX file in Viking from my Garmin chart plotter and deleted some tracks and way points. I saved it in Viking format then tried to “export all” to a “Single GPX file” so I could load the file back into my chart plotter and I get the following error every time.
“The filename you requested could not be opened for writing”
Any advice to get around this error would be appreciated.
Thanks
Typically this means the user doesn't have permissions or ability to write the file at the location requested.
Quite possibly this is when trying to same the file on a read-only filesystem - I'm not sure how Garmin chart plotters are used / or how one would transfer files to such devices.
It would be better suited to use the forum discussion (rather than the wiki) to continue this and/or further questions:

Thank you I will try the forum discussion.
