The VIA system is with a C3 (not C7 as I claimed, but that makes no difference). The Intel version runs in Virtualbox, the VIA system on bare metal. I've tried to boot the VIA box both with syslinux (USB stick) and isolinux. The actual booting is fine (get all the dots) but once the initrd is loaded and the kernel boots I get flashing keyboard LEDs. The VIA box is a MS-10000 (C3 + CLE266), 512 MB RAM.
