We haven't really had any reports from people using it on 64-bit platforms. There were reports of 64-bit specific crashes, but those were fixed in SVN and Debian a long time ago, and I'd assumed in Ubuntu too, I guess they haven't synced them yet? > so I tried to install from source but that didn't work either, 'make' gives > me error message: As stated on the download page, amd64 issues were fixed in SVN 154-156 and 178. Additionally, they were fixed in Debian's packages: etl 0.04.08-2 synfig 0.61.05-3 synfigstudio 0.61.05-3. Those are quite old packages. If Ubuntu hasn't yet synced them, they should get onto it. Who is the maintainer of the synfig Ubuntu packages? I'd suggest you contact them to get the packages synced with Debian. > Like so many others here, I too am very excited about Synfig and would really > much try it out, but it's so hard to get it working. On Windows, please use the new version based on recent SVN created by Atrus. It is linked from the download page under the unoffical packages section: http://www.synfig.com/download/ I'd really really suggest you use the SVN versions of etl/synfig/synfigstudio. They should be so much more stable than the current release. Please read the FAQ and download page before you do so: http://wiki.synfig.com/FAQ Build instructions are here: http://wiki.synfig.com/Build_instructions There is quite a bit of documentation on the wiki, especially a few good tutorials. -- bye, pabs http://wiki.synfig.com/PaulWise |
