No, that functionality is not available in SvxLink right now. It would be fairly simple (I think) to implement a new core DTMF command that can be used to switch the transmitter on and off though. As usual, add an issue to the issue tracker to make sure it's not forgotten if you want it implemented. 73's de SM0SVX / Tobias > if its truly in the manuals, just tell me to rtfm and i'll go back and > look again. > > > thanks, joe > |

I've always found it harder to understand when for example the time is read as "one six five zero" instead of "sixteen fifty" or QNH read as "one zero one four" instead of "one thousand and fourteen" or maybe "ten fourteen". I understand that under bad receiving conditions it may be easier to understand digits when read out one at a time but under normal conditions it's just annoying. So, it depends on what you want to achieve. Do you want it as close to the original (ATIS) as possible or as easy to understand as possible under normal conditions? But now I'm splitting hairs. I'm satisfied with any of the implementations as long as I can change it in the TCL file :-) 73's de SM0SVX / Tobias > > 73's de Adi, DL1HRC > > Tobias Blomberg schrieb: > > Jan, > > > > Please use the mailing list svxlink-devel for all communications. The NetTrxAdapter is used in the following case: * You have a repeater without Internet connection * You have remote receivers linked in via Internet to a dedicated linking site. Audio goes from the linking site via RF, using TrxUplink, to the repeater site using a separate linking frequency. * You want EchoLink connection. The NetTrxAdapter is used in the following way: * Setup a separate SvxLink, with EchoLink configured, at the linking site. * Setup a NetTrxAdapter config section and point it out as if it were one of the remote receivers (in the voter config ) and also point it out as a transmitter. Now all audio received by the uplink receiver will be sent to the SvxLink process and audio sent by the SvxLink process will be sent out on the uplink transmitter just like any other audio received by any of the remote receivers. This is just the same thing as if you would setup a SvxLink process with a separate real transceiver, sending on the repeaters input frequency and listening on the repeaters output frequency. Only in the NetTrxAdapter case we've done it completely in software. To be able to control the SvxLink software you need to use the DTMF repeater module at the repeater site. It's a very messy thing to do but the only solution right now. I have ideas for better solutions but I won't confuse you further now ;-) A RemoteTrx configuration that do the above may look something like the example below. It's not a complete working configuration. Just the most important bits are shown. The SvxLink configuration is just as usual, specifying remote TX and RX to use the RemoteTrx. The difference is that SvxLink connect to the NetTrxAdapter instead of to the NetUplink, which is the normal case. However, SvxLink cannot tell the difference. [GLOBAL] RX=Voter TX=SvxLinkNetTrxAdapter UPLINK=TrxUplink [TrxUplink] TYPE=Trx TX=UplinkTx RX=UplinkRx MUTE_RX_ON_TX=0 [UplinkRx] TYPE=Local [UplinkTx] TYPE=Local [SvxLinkNetTrxAdapter] TYPE=NetTrxAdapter LISTEN_PORT=5210 [Voter] TYPE=Voter RECEIVERS=SvxLinkNetTrxAdapter,NetRx1,NetRx2 [NetRx1] TYPE=Net HOST=... [NetRx2] TYPE=Net HOST=... I hope I managed to explain this. It can be a little bit hard to grasp. 73's de SM0SVX / Tobias > > 73 de dg0tm > > Gunnar Widell schrieb: > > Hi, > > > > I have tried to use remotetrx to transfer the audio from my remote radio. > > > > Audio quality and delay are good. When I use the remotetrx I frequently get *** ERROR: TCP transmit buffer overflow, and the connection drops. When I test locally, to run the remotetrx and svxlink connection only via the LAN in the house, I still see this problem. I have tried to increase the net.ipv4.tcp_wmem (/proc/sys/net/ipv4/) but I dont see much of a difference. Does anyone on the list have the same problem? 73 de Gunnar SG3P |

Ok so i want to switch out svxlink.conf file, stop/start svxlink. got sudo setup correctly for svxlink to let it run(or any user for that matter), got the shell script developed to cp file(yes perms are ok on /etc/svxlink.conf), run /etc/init.d/svxlink stop and /etc/init.d/svxlink start all works successfully from command line. Add the following line to execute addTimerTickSubscriber crontest; proc crontest {} { exec /home/jtesta/atjtrcio/scripts/change_mode.sh 0003 } i see the following in the /var/log/svxlink log. open audio device failed: No such file or directory open audio device failed: No such file or directory *** Error: Could not open audio device for receiver "Rx1" I think it has to do with executing via tcl?? I got sudo setup to be able to execute w/o a tty but i'm thinking no tty seems the be the problem, anyone seen anything like this? thanks, joe -- Joe Testa, N8XCT |

Hi Tobias, I am currently working on a Hardware Controller Interface with support for both the Echo-Link Windows system and the SVXLINK system. Due to the different communication used by either system I need to identify either system by reading the RS232 and see what I get. Echo-Link is relatively easy to identify since it starts polling data as soon as it has been started. At first I thought I determine the system by checking what I get from the Host Computer. But there are some situations that might leave the interface in Limbo and only a manual reset would get it out of that state. Is it possible to implement in the SVXLINK core, a response to an ASCII 0x3F ("?") by returning a 0x73 ("s") back to interface. In this way an attached Interface could query the host and gets also a response from SVXLINK at startup. This would positively identify the system and one can do an initial auto-detect routine on the interface level. In this way I can store the detected system in EEPROM and don't have to identify each time on power-up. Please let me know if this is a pain in the neck or easy to accomplish, I am a nut in PC programming in particular LINUX I wouldn't be able to hack the source for that or it would take me years. I am pleased to see the development of this great, reliable software and the growing number of users. Thanks, Norbert (KJ6ZD, 73) kj...@ds... http://www.kj6zd.net |

I admit, i've not looked thru the source code yet. But is there a way to turn off the transmitter short of just shutting down the software? I can easy enough add code via tcl but don't see whay I could call to make that happen, I know there is the timeout option but if i got someone messing with the repeater and as a control operator want to shut off the transmitter for a short time, but leave the receiver up so i can switch it back on via DTMF, can that be done? if its truly in the manuals, just tell me to rtfm and i'll go back and look again. thanks, joe -- Joe Testa, N8XCT |

It's the problem that Tobias has criticized. Will be changed in next update. For now change the entry in line 134 (playSilence 25;) in your /usr/share/svxlink/sounds/events.d/MetarInfo.tcl to playSilence 200; or more. If you work at the/as an atc, please could you test the MetarInfo a bit to decrease the number of errors? Metars are not my profession, just a hobby. Hi Adi, Yes I know how it sounds very well, I work at atc, EBBR airport in Brussels. I'll be waiting for your upgrade. I'm very happy with what you done so far. Is it possible to ad more delay in between the different items in the next tcl ? Best 73's Jan. ON6ZG. Hi, have changed METAR according to Tobias' hints he sent a couple of days ago...test it at the moment . I think, I will send a new and hopefully better version at the end of next week. BTW: In METARS/ATIS only full hundred and thousands are spoken, e.g. 15000 is normaly spoken as "one five thousand", 2300 as "two thousand three hundred" and 2350 as "two three five zero", wind 230 degrees will give out as "wind two three zero degrees" and so on. The altimeter e.g. 30.21 is spoken as "three zero decimal two one", QNH0992 always as "QNH neiner neiner two". Listen to the ATIS of an int'l airport next to you. Hi, I have tried to use remotetrx to transfer the audio from my remote radio. Audio quality and delay are good. It is not too difficult to setup, as a proof of concept with the existing software. To get a better solution (some UI and maybe UDP), more work is needed. According to Tobias, most of the code is already there. I will document my experimental setup AFTER CQWW Contest , this weekend. 73 de Gunnar SG3P > hello to all, > > my question is, is an application out ther, to connect to an remotetrx > instance directly. > in such a manner, remotetrx application could be part of an > remotestation setup. and this > would by quit coool :), because no new development > > > 73 DG0TM > > ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ > Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 > 30-Day > trial. Hola Elias, Thanks for sharing your Relay project with us! You have put a lot of effort in this, and it looks like a very useful feature. I created a page on the Wiki and pasted your links about your project. Please feel free to update or change the information. You only need to register at Sourceforge, then you have the rights to edit by default. http://sourceforge.net/apps/trac/svxlink/wiki/ExternalLinks 73 de Gunnar SG3P Elías Martínez Rodríguez skrev: > Thank you very much for your work team. Tobias, sorry for the confusion, I was just making a note that I didn't see it in the repeater section, I added it and now the repeater only IDs when there has been a transmission in the last 10 mins, it never transmits an ID except for Long ID when there has been no transmission. 73, joe, n8xct -- Joe Testa, N8XCT Quoting Tobias Blomberg <sm...@us...>: > On Friday 13 November 2009 04:22:59 Joe Testa wrote: >> In the standard svxlink.conf thats distributed. Yes it is possible but not easy. You'd have to modify the "dtmf_cmd_received" function in Logic.tcl to filter out the commands you want to hide. When that function return 1, SvxLink will ignore that command. And also, to filter out a specific command in a specific module you'd have to check if that module is active or not. You can use the "active_module" variable for that. If you just want to get rid of a help message, remove that sound clip file or modify the playHelp TCL function to not play any file. It's awful that there are people destroying this hobby by causing interference :-( 73's de SM0SVX / Tobias > > Please help me!! > > Max |
