Hi there, have you installed the JDBC driver for MySQL in the lib directory of your SQuirreL installation? You can download the driver from http://dev.mysql.com/downloads/connector/j/ You can check if the driver is properly installed in the driver section of SQuirreL, if there's no blue checkmark next to the driver "MySQL driver", you still have an error in your driver installation. Your JDBC-url looks ok to me, if you have a database called "mydb" in your local MySQL installation. If those hints don't help, you might need to provide further information like which OS you use and to what version of MySQL you want to connect.
