In the latest CB light they have removed the ability to write files in any format, including PGN. Even before that, size was a problem, with CB light only allowing 8000 games. Furthermore, CB light PGN export (when it was still available) would not export all information in a database, especially problematic if you have book style databases (of which my coach probably have hundreds) This is probably a big hurdle for people switching to SCID or other oss database programs. I have several friends who are coaches, and have collected material over many years. Also, many sites distribute material in CB format. There is simply no reliable/simple way to get that information into PGN or SCID format (that I know of). Marius |
