The idea is to share MIME icons between all the desktops (so all themes work
with all desktops, and everything looks consistent). There's some new code
in GTK CVS for accessing the icons (we could just bulk-copy this to
ROX-Filer to avoid forcing people to upgrade GTK).

I'd like to move the filer over to this at some point (it's not quite
standardised yet, but there's no harm in starting early...)

I'm going to say this, then I'm probably going to have to run for cover.  Is
that really such a good idea?  Is it really that big a deal that GNOME, KDE,
and ROX all have the same icon themes?  Or are we just talking about the
fact that all the DEs can use all icon themes?
