Hello. On one of my Windows 2008 R2 Remote Desktop servers, when I attempt to remote control most users' sessions, the screen flickers and I just see my desktop again. The user too sees a flicker. This seems to happen on end-user PCs that are using newer Remote Desktop Connection clients. One of the user's PCs is running Windows XP on an unknown version of RDC and when someone logs in from that PC, I can remote control that session. Also, if I log in to the server myself from a Windows 7 PC using its built-in Remote Desktop Connection software, THEN I can remote control all of the users' sessions, so it seems there's an issue with rdesktop. I experienced it with v1.7 so recently upgraded to v1.8.2 and still experience it. I did also try to change the RDP compression algorithm on the server (tried 'optimal network bandwidth' and 'balanced') and neither made a difference. Even more strangely, on another of my Windows 2008 R2 servers whose users all connect with Windows 7 and up, I can remote control all of their sessions just fine with rdesktop 1.7 (and 1.8.2.) I hardly think its worth the time to spent to pinpoint the issue in rdesktop which could trigger this issue. You can test run rdesktop in different modes eg. with and without device redirection, other color bitdepths etc.. to see if that affects the functionality. But as you say, it works perfect on on server installation and i think its best to identify the differences there instead.. Kind Regards, Henrik Andersson |
