To Joao and Brian: With all these proposed changes in the octave demos, please feel free to change test/test_octave.sh as well. That script was my poor attempt to follow the octave instructions (now just for the standard x examples because the p examples don't work on older octave versions). However, I am completely unfamiliar with octave so I am sure someone with familiarity with octave could easily clean up that script. Also note if you systematically compare the x??o.ps octave results you get from running ./plplot-test.sh (which invokes test_octave.sh) with the corresponding x??c.ps C results, there are a fair number of differences. On my computer there is exact agreement for examples 2, 6, 7, 10, 12, and 18; but disagreement for examples 1, 3, 4, 5, 8, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 16. For the ones that disagree, I don't know whether this is just some remaining inconsistency (choice of colour or size or whatever) between the octave script for any given standard example and how the rest of the interfaces (c, c++, f77, python, java, and tcl) implement that same example or a real problem with the way the octave interface to PLplot is implemented. Whatever the source of the problem, it would be nice to get it cleaned up and have all octave standard example results agree with the corresponding results from all the rest of the interfaces. "would be nice" here means it is not release critical, but it is something to keep in mind if you are changing the examples in any case Alan __________________________ Alan W.
