INSTALL.MacOSX would have the advantage of attracting the attention of the
Mac Users. But this would perhaps imply that you should have an
INSTALL.Linux, INSTALL.Win ...

I expected that behavior of course. However, even Linux sometimes has its
problems with the various distributions.
