I haven't noticed this problem, or at least haven't been able to run the demos under plserver anyway to know what they are supposed to look like! Therefore it is going to be very hard for me to track down any problem here without a lot more information... All my demos have a black background, I think. Are some supposed not to? This could potentially be a synchronisation issue between the widget's background colour: plframe .p .p cget -bg and the '0' colour used by plplot.
