Thanks again to both of you. Alan's suggestion to build with Qt blew up. I have what I thought was a complete install of cygwin and there is no "cl". I tried Darius' suggestion to use TDM. Rebuilt it and it gives exactly the same results as the Mingw build. Don't know why things don't work for me. It could not possibly be operator error :-). BUT, Darius' suggestion to use Inkscape is good. I used it to convert an svg file to png and pdf (which is readable by Adobe). I think that is where I will leave things.
