While I have never used MFC dialogs, I can imagine the issues being the 
same as for any application
that wants to specify a particular existing window instead of letting 
PLplot open a new one:

- The win3 driver supports a driver option "hwnd" - the value for that 
option is the HWND handle for the
  window that you want to use. You should use the plsetopt() function to 
set this option.
- If you use this option, PLplot will assume that your program takes 
care of drawing and redrawing
  (that is, the default message handling function is not used).

If this does not work, please let me know, as I am the maintainer of the 
win3 driver.
