Valerij: yplot was designed exclusively for Linux, and that problem and several others are caused because you are trying it on a non-Linux system. Keeping that cautionary statement in mind, at another user's request I made a number of changes so it would work on solaris. This work has not been officially released, and this user chose not to give me feedback so it is in a state of "works for me" for one solaris environment without any further testing. If you have further interest you will have to get this version from CVS. (For anonymous access to the yplot CVS follow the directions at http://sourceforge.net/cvs/?group_id=15416, and also read the cvs man page and run info cvs to find out how to request a certain date.) I finalized it 30 August, and there was a period of CVS inactivity afterward so if you ask for the CVS version of date 1 September 2001 (or any time in September), I believe you will get the right version. Note I am actively working on yplot CVS at the moment to get it to work with yorick-1.5, but I am right in the middle of it so CVS HEAD probably won't work for you (but a 1 September date will). Note, other things you have to do on Solaris are to use gcc to compile plplot-5.0.4. and the native solaris compiler to compile yorick-1.4. (The native solaris compiler does not work on plplot-5.0.4 [we allowed too many gcc-specific statements into that version], and the gcc option is misconfigured [IIRC] for yorick-1.4). Finally, look carefully through the yplot INSTALL file to see what environment variables you can set to help yplot find your yorick-1.4 and plplot-5.0.4 installation directories. Please let me know how it goes. If you encounter problems, I would be willing to help you with advice from what I can remember of my one solaris experience, but you are mostly going to have to dig things out for yourself because Sun never makes it easy. Also, you are only the 3rd person to try this. Alan email: ir...@be... phone: 250-727-2902 FAX: 250-721-7715 snail-mail: Dr. Alan W.
