Please follow the directions at http://www.miscdebris.net/plplot_wiki to build PLplot using our latest development release (version 5.9.0 at http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=2915) using our supported CMake-based build system. That build probably won't solve your issue, but it will be a lot closer to what we are used to and will make it easier for us to discover what the problem is for you.
