Alan, I don't see these with the latest stable Ubuntu. The latest debian packages have now made it into unstable. To run ctest with the tcl bindings required setting ITCL_LIBRARY (see debian/rules for details). Rafael discovered this, but we don't yet know why. The java packages build ok in the debian packages so you might like to check which java you are using. We're building with kaffe.
