My understanding is that all our normal ascii string processing now goes through utf8_to_ucs4 since normal ascii is a part (the simplest part) of utf8. However, example 24 extends the test of utf8_to_ucs4 to non-ascii utf8 as well. I hope some of you with non-English knowledge will stress PLplot with even more extensive examples than x24. Also, some malformed utf8 should be included in these (private) tests to make sure our internal utf8_to_ucs4 code handles that situation correctly. Alan __________________________ Alan W.
