I have had e-mail troubles during the last weekend.  I already replied
privately to Alan about the message below, but i am reposting here just in
case my reply did not go through.

Are you sure that the permissions are wrong?  I do a fresh cvs checkout here
and see:

$ cvs co plplot
$ ls -l plplot/examples/python/x1{4,7}.py
-rwxr-xr-x    1 rafael   rafael        294 2001-04-01 02:33 plplot/examples/python/x14.py
-rwxr-xr-x    1 rafael   rafael        183 2001-04-01 02:33 plplot/examples/python/x17.py
