Unintentionally tried to request 0.005 degree angular resolution from a SICK laser. It puzzled me for an hour, so I'll submit it simply for archival purposes. Symptoms: =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Laser driver is trying to connect, Getting multiple "timeouts" Eventually quitting with an unsual error: "variant request ignored" The laser now sports a red light, pretends to be dead and has to be power-cycled. Cause: =3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D=3D Config file had an erroneous entry ... resolution 0.5 ... instead of 'resolution 50'. Don't know what the laser was trying to do bu= t it didn't like doing it.
