I am using Ubuntu 10.10. I installed player 3.0.2 from the source code. I had installed player 2.1.2 before and I uninstalled it by "sudo make uninstall" This is message I get when I do "playerprint -h localhost -p 6665 -r 5 -i 0 -c 2 laser" playerc warning : warning : [Player v.3.0.2] connected on [localhost:6665] with sock 3 On subscribing to laser in playerv I get the following message PlayerViewer 3.0.2 Connecting to [localhost:6665] playerc warning : warning : [Player v.3.0.2] connected on [localhost:6665] with sock 6 Available devices: localhost:6665 laser:0 sicklms200 ready playerc error : timed out waiting for server reply to request laser:0:request:1 playerv : error in /backup/Softwares/player-3.0.2/utils/playerv/pv_dev_laser.c libplayerc error: timed out waiting for server reply to request laser:0:request:1 BTW, I tried this sicktoolbox (http://sicktoolbox.sourceforge.net/) and it works perfectly.
