In ODF files the situation is as follows:

    • Missing tags trigger validation warnings.
    • Extraneous tags existing in the source pass validation.
    • "Wrong" tags (not present in source) pass validation.
    • In segments containing "wrong" tags and missing some source tags the validation warnings are given only about the missing tags.

    (OmegaT 3.1.0, SVN)

With DOCX files tag validation behaves the same as with ODF

This issue seems to be introduced in version 3.0.6. Earlier versions seems to validate the tags properly.

It seems that the problem is reoccuring in 4.1.1 and trunk, the extra tags are not flagged as errors.

Yes, this is a recurring issue. Extra tags present in the source segment are detected. Extra tags not present in the source segment (note they are not greyed out, as they are not recognised as protected text) are not detected.

I have created a new report for this issue: [#876].
