Your original request was about zip files, not RAR files. Regardless, as far as I'm aware there is no support for either.
Media files tend to be well compressed already so there's not much call these days for keeping them inside chunked compressed archives.
I can only suggest that you find a batch tool (or make a script) to remove everything from such archives.

loss during transfers or storage.

I would also like to express my interest in this request. Compression is not the real subject. It's all about recovering from data loss.
Use rar2fs to mount your shares. This will create a FUSE fs where you can see media as if unpacked
