>> It's also a very important configurability feature being able to disable desktop icons > You mean it is very important for you, right? :-) well, i'm not that selfish! ;-) - i think lots of more people likes not having icons on the desktop - and for me it were a last resort for hiding the 'My Documents' icon when it's still pointing at '~/' instead of '~/Documents/' - just because of this, i replaced pcmanfm with nautilus (and i needed to rename /usr/bin/pcmanfm to /usr/bin/_pcmanfm for avoiding it in the processes), and i hope replace back when this can get fixed - i hope i could help on the source code, but since i'm still not good in C language, i don't know where in the code is this, and how to submit the code patch. And about icons on the desktop, i'm curious on seeing this feature implemented - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPM7MLz7JeA - as everywhere i suggested it, i only saw it implemented on ReactOS... >> i hope the 'My Documents' folder name were defaultly renamed to 'Home', since it provides a huge confusion > I'm not quite sure but isn't it possible it is an XDG thing and you can change it under ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs? i'm seeing it now, i didn't know this configuration file - does is it exclusive to PCManFM, or shared with? There is a ' XDG_DOCUMENTS_DIR="$HOME/Documents" ' anyway, and i think ' XDG_DOWNLOAD_DIR="$HOME/Desktop" ' should point to '~/Downloads/' instead... thanks about sharing all this information! =) On 11/25/08, si...@mz... <si...@mz...> wrote: > > PCMan wrote: > >> https://pcmanfm.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/pcmanfm/branches/gnu >> >> This is still highly experimental, but quite interesting. >> It handles files (copy, move, remove...) with GNU coreutils installed >> on your system. > > I'm sorry but I'm a bit confused - what is your intention with this "fork"? > Does it mean you cannot guarantee correct file operations without > coreutils? > Or you simply do not want to tackle with this and the file handling will be > put > out of PCManFM and only coreutils will be used?
