Gerhard, this appoach is similar to mine. If the destination colorspace is small (black point about 20 and more) and perceptual gamut compression does not satisfy the intention, applying gamma with saturation before relcolBPC transform gives good results. Therefore, this is why I think non-linear scaling with saturation remapping is an approach towards "neutral gamut mapping", because mapping is still based on colorimetry with perceptual adjustments.
