No

I noticed that, when toggling the asterisks on the username column, the username would remain in plaintext in the URL field when using {USERNAME} (and any other field that accepts this variable). See screenshot for example. The username is asterisk'd out in the "username" field but not when the {USERNAME} variable is used.

Your screen shot shows the user name hidden behind asterisks. Where is the issue?

If you look in the URL, notice how it displays as "sourceforge **" despite the username being hidden in the actual username field.

Hide the URL field behind asterisks.

You can also uncheck "Show dereferenced data (slow)" in 'Tools>Options>Interface(tab)>Entry List(section)'

Adding the user name to the URL is something you have chosen to do. KeePass cannot account for every behaviour you may choose, so not hiding data in this instance is not a bug.

As I am not a programmer, I don't know how practical this would be to implement, but wouldn't it be possible to check if "asterisks: yes" for username is enabled in the "Configure Columns" menu and then modify {USERNAME} to display asterisks?

Yes it would, but you would also need to check for every instance of a value that may be hidden and then hide all other copies of it. That's a lot of work for one user's preference.

    cheers, Paul

    Duplicate of https://sourceforge.net/p/keepass/bugs/1357/ .

The hiding using asterisks within references is only supported for the password field, not all entry strings.

    Best regards,
    Dominik
