but the drawback is that people may remove without saving..
So we should do this only, if we add a check that looks if layers have been modified previously and not saved.

We do not have (+) symbol any more and there is a visible (x) symbol in TOC context menu. Feature request is implemented in a bit different way than suggested but I close it as fixed anyhow.
