Hi, It's been years since I thouched JGB's codebase, so I can't even answer you anything about code. My feeling is that your GUI should be reproducible using JGB, but I can't answer with certainty. If you want ownership, just send me a private E-Mail with your SF username and I'll do the work. Bye ! Hy! =20 Is there still anyone working on this project?? I think that the JGB-Framework is really good - and for me it is perfect, because I wanted to code the same thing ;) =20 Now I work on the JGB-Framework, because I need some more GUI-Components like a JTable or maybe a JList, the second thing is that I add some Attributes to existing Components like Font and Color to label and textfield. When this works JGB is really perfect for me, the only thing I have to code is a GUI-Editor, where the user can move GUI-Components, or drag and drop some new into the window and then save a new XML-File. Are there still any solutions where someone tried to write a XML-File out of a Java Program in the JGB format?? =20 I would be very happy if there will come some answers :-) Michael |

Hello, To highlight the Java GUI Builder (JGB) and its XML UI language format I invite you to create a counter sample for the XUL Grand Coding Challenge 2004. So far the XUL Grand Coding Challenge 2004 counter sample showcase gallery includes markup samples and screenshots for: * Luxor * MyXaml * Jazilla * xWidglets * XMLFace * Ultrid * FormsPlayer See http://xul.sourceforge.net/counter.html for details. Let me know if anyone wants to help out and create a counter sample using the Java GUI Builder (JGB). - Gerald PS: You can find out more about the XUL Grand Coding Challenge 2004 online @ http://xul.sourceforge.net/challenge.html ------------------- Gerald Bauer Open XUL Alliance - A Rich Internet For Everyone | http://xul.sourceforge.net XUL News Wire | http://news.gmane.org/gmane.comp.lang.xul.announce ______________________________________________________________________ Post your free ad now! http://personals.yahoo.ca |

Hello, I invite you to sign-up for the XUL Grand Coding Challenge 2004. The XUL Grand Coding Challenge is a good opportunity to promote the Java Gui Builder (JGB) project. For example, Marc Clifton will write-up an article for the Code Project site. I will write-up articles for the Richmond Post, the XUL News Wire, and so on and also bundle-up a package for easy download such as challenge04.zip or similar that includes all examples plus readme docs. So far the sign-up line-up includes: * Gerald Bauer - Luxor XUL Toolkit * Marc Clifton - MyXAML * Arron Ferguson - Purnama XUI * Charles Goodwin - Ibex (formerly XWT) * Adam Kinney - Microsoft Longhorn/Avalon XAML * Paul Colton - Xamlon * Pierre Dezon - xWidglets * Luan O'Carroll - Xoetrope XUI * Mathew McBride - Jazilla NG * Wenzel Jakob - Beryl * Wolf Paulus - SwixML * Jon Lipsky - XMLFace * Ovi Comes - Zulu * Mark Birbeck - FormsPlayer See the web page for more @ http://xul.sourceforge.net/challenge.html If you're interested in signing up for Java Gui Builder (JGB) or if you have any questions please let me know. I am already using register tag to do event handling. My question is how does this event handler object (which is instantiated by defaultbuilder with <object> tag within the current window's context) know anything beyond WindowContext about rest of my application ? By "application", I mean the rest of the non-gui codes related to business logic. Did I miss something obvious ? I have to say that I am not very good at Java in general. I am thinking more in the line that if DefaultBuilder has another constructor which takes a HashMap as its argument, then I can create a HashMap in my application and pass it to Defaultbuilder to be used as WindowContext map as well. This way both my app and GUI component can share this same context map. This approach also has the benefit of allowing you to have multiple windows and still sharing the same context map. > > > > Thanks for any input. > > > > BTW, this list is awfully quiet, sure hope more folks are here to bounce off > > ideas. > > The list is indeed awfully quiet, but the JGB software is very usefull > for us: we use JGB plus a number of controls we build/added for letting > users define their own panels. The list is indeed awfully quiet, but the JGB software is very usefull for us: we use JGB plus a number of controls we build/added for letting users define their own panels. Hi, Are there any demos showing how to use JGB in an application ? As far as I can tell, an application could access GUI objects via builder.getObject() method, but there seems no way for my GUI objects to access any objects defined in my application, since I can't pass an "application context" to builder object, and the WindowContext is not directly accessable from the application either (for pushing application defined objects onto WindowContext) ? For example: if the simplewindow.xml demo is invoked from an application, when OK button is clicked, how does the eventhandler pass user inputs back to invoking application ? Thanks for any input. BTW, this list is awfully quiet, sure hope more folks are here to bounce off ideas. YZ |

Hi, I have been playing with JGB for last couple of weeks and I am quite impressed so far. Great work ! I am wondering what other tags can we expect in the future, say for version 1.0 ? Is there a published feature set or something like that ? From reading archived messages, I see that tags for JTable and possibly JTree are in the works, what else ? I think I have found a bug in SheetTagHandler.java : basically, sheet object is never put on to object map, therefore, a NullPointer exception is generated if sheet object is referenced later in a <ref refid="sheet"/> entry. Adding following three lines of code at end of "enterElement" method will fix the problem: if (atts.containsKey(ATTR_ID)) { putObject((String)atts.get(ATTR_ID), sheet); } YZ |
