With the current installer it is not possible to install JabRef without admin permissions. This restriction is not needed. I'm the author of your Windows installer script, so hereby I provide a changed script that allows it.

I attached the changed installer script.

We shipped the 2.9b2 version using the old setup.nsi file, because there were some errors I couldn't figure out:

First I got this one:
!define: "VERSION" already defined!

After commenting out that line, I got the following:
!include: could not find: "fileassoc.nsh"

On Win7, I'm not asked for admin privileges.

Wow, I got a reply after 5 years. Things have changed a lot in the meantime, but I will have a look at the installer again this weekend.
