Since JabRef can always display author name in "First Initial von Last, Jr." form, is it possible to let JabRef automatically regenerate author name in this order?
For example, when an author's name is written as "Smith, John D." in the .bib file, JabRef can display this name as "John D. Smith." So, is it possible to write "John D. Smith" into the .bib file? Does this doable? Thanks.

I'll look into this eventually. It will then most likely be an item in the cleanup menu.

I have the GUI functionality around it now, but the current conversion functions (already existing in JabRef) do not deal with all cases properly. Especially, the cases Villas Boas, Andre can not be converted back after converting it to Andre Villas Boas and Lomanov, S., Jr. can not be converted to S. Lomanov, Jr.

The first case is inherently tricky and can only be solved by converting it to Andre {Villas Boas}, which may lead to that the purpose is missed anyway.

Edit: Lomanov, S., Jr., should really have been Lomanov, Jr., S. but it seems like the test case I've been using is imported incorrectly from IEEE Xplore...
