I have a large database (~1700 entries) that has been pulled from many different sources. This means that two of the standard required entries, page numbers and authors are in several slightly different formats. For instance, many of my page numbers have an endash rather than an emdash, or only have the first page rather than the range. I would like to be able to automatically correct the dashes, and flag the articles that don't include a range so I can fix them.

In my author field, I've got some that are spelled out: {First Name Lastname and First Name Lastname} and some that are initials: {FN Lastname and FN Lastname}, and of course some that use commas instead of 'and'. Currently, one can fix each entry individually, but that takes a long time. I'd like to be able to scan my database and find all the entries that don't conform to some standard (I personally prefer the first) and then offer to automatically fix them, maybe with a dialog similar to the find duplicates script.

When importing new entries, it could then offer to clean them up in the same way. Bonus points if it could recognize author names and offer replacements (e.g. if I imported and entry that had R.P. Feynman as an author and I already had a paper by Richard P. Feynman in another entry, it would suggest a replacement).
