Hello all,

I'm new to JabRef. I use ISI (Web of Science & Web of Knowlegde) to gather my references. One feature I like about ISI is that I'm able to export the number of times the reference has been cited. It would really be useful for me if I could sort my library by the number of times cited. As in now, the "times cited" will fall into the note field. Is there a way to create a new field named "Times Cited" that will extract only just the number following "note = {Times Cited: X}, . See my BibTeX Source example that includes "Times Cited" in the note field attached.

To sum up my request
1. Create a new column in the Entry table called "Times Cited" so I can sort it in that manner.
2. Create a new field that is able to extract just the number times cited from the "note" field.

Thanks all.

Times Cited is actually stored in a field "tc" if you go via EndNote/Ris/Other bibliographic reference software export of WoS and then import it into JabRef. It is easy to display tc in the table view or adopt entry preview.

However, if you fetch the docs from WoS tc is frozen at the time you fetch them. (JabRef will not update that value.) So, in a year from now it will not reflect any useful data. It does not seem sensible to use it as a marker for whatever sorting except in working a on a bibliographic set on a given time, e.g. for some bibliometric evaluation. But for scientific purposes it seems useless.
