Thanks for your great work on an excellent bibtex manager!

I tried to find out if JabRef could automatically
import references from web based databases.

More and more databases (like Web of Science,
ScienceDirect, but also smaller publishers) provide a
button on a references page to export the reference
information straight from the web to the preferred
bibliographic software. This was initially only ISI
software, but more and more a bibtex option is offered.

Would it be possible to set JabRef to capture the
reference file when clicking the above mentioned button?

Sander.

Jabref can import the formats provided by many of these web sites - e.
    g. ScienceDirect provides citations in RIS format, which import nicely.
However, you've got to save the file, and then import it into Jabref. It
would surely be possible to implement a routine watching for a specific
file, so that it could automatically import the citation once your web
browser saves to the file. You'd still have to save into the correct file,
though, and it is not trivial to do this in the case that several different
formats can appear (except for trying different formats to see which one
works). Is this something like what you had in mind?
