I currently use Jabref as my offline depository for all the articles that are of concern to me.
Sometimes a colleague will ask me for references.
I would not only like to be able to export selected references into a seperate bibfile but to also include the pdfs that I have in the export folder.
Then neither I or my colleague will have to go search for the pdfs.
This would also be helpful when I create a "final" bibfile for a paper. In this way I could easily create selfcontained folders with all the relevant pdfs for my paper, too.
On a sidenote having seperate pdf folders for each bibfile would also be a help for importing/exporting.

I agree with the interest of this, it seems to be quite simple to do and useful as papers exchange is very important to get a complete bibliography on a subject.

+1 for this request
If you right click on the tab of a database, you can configure database properties and select a directory for the database. That at least helps setting different directories for each bib file. I personally use "." as directory meaning that the directory of the .bib file is used as directory basis.
