This would be really great when considering this scenario:
I've managed my bibtex entries by hand for quite some time. Now with the possibility of online retrieval of bibtex entries, it would be great to update my entries with content from the online entry.
concrete example:
I have an entry that is also present at from IEEExplore. I click on 'update online from IEEExplore' in the context menu of that entry and it tries to get the corresponding bibtex entry (that's already nearly there with the search functionality). Now I would like to see both entries next to each other and would like to merge them into one.
looking like this:
------------------------------------------
localtitle <-copy- online title
localauthors <-copy- online authors
...
