Dear JabRef developers,
I am lecturer in the University , and willing to move to Linux, but the lack of an easy-to-use open source software like Reference Manager or Endnote prevents me to do so.
Just recently found by chance Jab Ref and found it absolutely genial: light, fast, good but I cannot use in-text citations of the articles stored in JabRef with OpenOffice.
I tried to convert the bib file into openoffice calc and then into Base, but failed to make Openoffice to use it as Data source for the Bibliography entries.
I think it would be just enough to me you to provide a guide for doing so (namely how to say Openoffice writer where is the database created after the Jabref retrieval whilst implementing something more elaborate such as a direct integration of JabRef into OpenOffice.org. If you manage to do so, thousands of scientists and lecturers wil be moving to opensource.
I am happy to discuss this issue further and feel free to amil me to prietojm@uv.es
Thank you for the nice software and suppport!
Jose

You might want to test Bibus, it works fairly well with the features you need.

I deedn't had any problem to import jabref produced database in my opendocument following :
http://jabref.sourceforge.net/help/OpenOfficeHelp.php
But of course, a direct interaction between oo and jabref would be really great, with a graphical formating tool of reference It would be a complete tool.
