Would it be possible to provide a user defined linkage between a program and file type. For example, I love how the pdf icon automatically opens Adobe with the document in it. In the field of chemistry, crystal structure information is stored in *.cif files that can be opened by many programs, among them is enCIFer, which is freely available. I would really enjoy being able to store & access the crystal structure information along with the associated research paper.
