It would be *VERY* useful if I could select a number of references, and generate a timeline from them. There is an open source project called SIMILE from MIT that implements this as a web app. (http://simile.mit.edu/timeline/) I believe it is all AJAX and Javascript. I'm thinking that JabRef could just generate an DHTML page based on the selected references, and the user could view the file in his or her web browser. Of course, the user would need to be connected to the Internet in order to access the SIMILE javascript, but that is a small price to pay to use this feature.

I just want to second this request - it would be super useful, especially when you're trying to see the directions of influence in a body of literature.

    Please implement this guys!
