AFAIR, the Linux IrDA stack relies on some other linux networking 
things, like
sockets, etc, but not too heavily.

also, it relied on some "general linux kernel things" ...

I know thats very few information. But i can't help you any more, i'm 
myself not an
expert on this topic ;) I hope that is at least a bit helpfull.
