Is it possible to use "old" driver somehow? It is showing as option in 
kernel config, though manual loading doesn't change anything - the same 
problem remains.

Hmm, looking at /proc/net/irda/irlap in 2.4 kernel:
   qos   bps     maxtt   dsize   winsize addbofs mintt   ldisc   comp
   tx    115200  100     128     1       12      1000    12
   rx    115200  500     2048    7       0       10000   12
Doesn't it mean both phone and dongle are using the same port speed?

Well, I can't say I'm in hurry, I'm just curious to use new kernel :)
