In the FAQ for iperf http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/iperf_faq.php They have the following question and answer, How does Iperf measure available bandwidth? Iperf sends packets from the client to the server as fast as it can, of course being limited by several factors (more information about increasing the speed can be found in this FAQ and in the user documentation <http://dast.nlanr.net/Projects/Iperf/iperfdocs_1.7.0.html> ). The information is sent by default from the client's memory to the server's memory to attempt to eliminate some hardware speed limitations. Note that high bandwidth networks often require multiple streams to max out the bandwidth. I have a few things I didn't completely understand. 1) How much is high bandwidth (is 1GB a high bandwidth (because I am using a 1GB P-P connection))? 2) What limits a single stream from achieving high bandwidth?
