Hi there, On Tue, 27 Apr 2010 Lamissa Sanogo/Senoufo wrote: > is it possible to get Addon and cop filter on the same IPCop Firewall? There are several packages which can be described by the name 'Addon'. I do not know which one you mean. It is possible to install several addon packages on IPCop, but my advice is to seek expert advice and to think about it very carefully before installing any of them. You need to be careful when using any addon packages with IPCop, so that 1. The packages do not conflict. Addon packages can conflict in some applications and not in others. 2. The packages do what you want them to do. Addon packages may do what you want them to do in some applications and not in others. 3. The packages do not reduce your security unacceptably. Addon packages will reduce your security in almost all cases. > How to install an Antispam on IPcop Firewall, it seems that mine is doing or does not bloc Spam? That is correct. IPCop is not designed to block spam. It contains no mailserver. Attempting to block spam requires the inspection of packet content, and IPCop as distributed does not do that. Spam filtering is a complex business. Spam filtering software can consume a great deal of resources on the filtering machine, the filtering software can make the machine much more vulnerable to attack, and (for good reasons) the tools to build and maintain filtering software are not present in the IPCop distribution. My advice is to use spam filtering products on your mail server, and if you do not have a mail server to use something which works with, or extends the capability of, the mail client on your PC. -- 73, Ged. |
