To me the easiest way looks like this: use the /etc/usb_modeswitch.d directory from upstream, remove all device rules from udev/usb_modeswitch.rules and have only one line containing RUN+="/usr/sbin/usb_modeswitch.pl '%b/%k'" (or something like that), and rewrite the tcl script from upstream in perl. We'd only need to add new files in /etc/usb_modeswitch.d as and when they become available. Something like that I will also suggest to upstream, the current method with having device information in 3 places (.conf, directory and udev rule) looks too much. The only thing left for the user is to 'activate' usbserial (or any of the other kernel drivers) via modules/modprobe.d config files. Olaf |
