Bugs item #1172314, was opened at 2005-03-28 23:49 Message generated for change (Settings changed) made by david__schmidt You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=111118&aid=1172314&group_id=11118 Category: macosx-specific Group: version 3.4 Status: Pending Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Assigned to: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Summary: Terminal.app Unusable After Uninstall Initial Comment: I ran the uninstall script, but whenever I open Terminal.app, the following message occurs. This happened when Privoxy was first installed also. Or something similar. Privoxy was running, however, GRC.COM's Shield's Up! test detected my domain, which never happened before with Mac OS X 10.3. Darwin:~ Darwin$ /Library/Privoxy/StartPrivoxy.command; exit -bash: /Library/Privoxy/StartPrivoxy.command: No such file or directory logout [Process completed] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Date: 2005-04-06 23:20 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=249980 Ok, it looks like the GUI-ness of the Finder and of TextEdit are going to conspire against us. You won't be able to navigate to and edit your home .tcshrc file. I get much the same Terminal output as you if I run my existing StartPrivoxy.command, though... except for the fact that Privoxy actually starts. Last login: Wed Apr 6 23:18:11 on ttyp1 /Library/Privoxy/StartPrivoxy.command; exit Welcome to Darwin! newimac:~ david$ /Library/Privoxy/StartPrivoxy.command; exit Apr 06 23:18:17 Privoxy(00284) Info: loading configuration file '/Library/Privoxy/config': logout [Process completed] So, it's like your Terminal.app somehow got changed to just point to a (non-existent) script or something. If you have another computer on your network, you might try to ssh into the Mac and see if you can get in that way. What I'd like to do is inspect the contents of your user's .tcshrc file and the contents of the Terminal.app directory. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Date: 2005-04-06 10:10 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=249980 It sounds like your default config somehow has decided to try to start Privoxy when a shell (Terminal) starts; since that fails now (since you uninstalled Privoxy) the shell never starts. I don't have an OSX box in front of me at the moment, but you may want to navigate to your user folder and look for a .tcshrc or .cshrc file and edit it using a normal editor. Look for an instance of 'StartPrivoxy.command' and delete it. I'll be able to get more specific instructions once I get in front of a real box. The install process doesn't change shell startup options, so it's a mystery to me as to how this happened to you. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2005-04-06 02:38 Message: Logged In: NO Yes, after install, if you go into terminal, that error pops up. Now, I can't use Terminal at all. Even using the uninstall script won't allow me to eliminate the error. Terminal stops. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: David Schmidt (david__schmidt) Date: 2005-04-02 09:29 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=249980 The above results when you double-click on the Terminal object in Applications->Utilities->Terminal folder? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=111118&aid=1172314&group_id=11118 |
