* ThorstenK <hal...@t-...> [040106 22:19]: >I tried the usb masstorage-patch for kernel 2.6.x, that you have posted on >the ifp-mailing-list! >It works, but the umount process takes a very lomg time, about 2-5 minutes >(sometimes up to 10 minutes), that nerves a little bit, did you have the >same problems with it? Or have you an idea how to fix that issue? I was going to write you that I had no idea, when I realized that I do know (er guess) what the problem is. By default, mounted volumes -I'm not sure it all the filesystems do the same, but vfat sure does- are mounted asynchronously, what means that writes are deferred in time and done later on, in order to improve performance. When you umount the volume, any data not previously written is synced, you can try writing 'sync' and then umounting it and you'll see the umount is immediate (in case this is indeed the problem). The best option is to add 'sync' to the mount options in your /etc/fstab, the entry I have for my iFP is as follows: /dev/sda /mnt/ifpdev vfat noauto,sync,noatime,user,nonumtail,shortname=mixed,codepage=850,iocharset=iso8859-15 0 0 For more info on all the options, you can read 'man mount' :) I hope this helps ;-) -- Javier Marcet <ja...@ma...> |
