It is part of libusb design. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: speakman (speakman) Date: 2006-02-17 22:12 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=109960 I quote myself: -- "uname -a": Linux bond 2.4.25 #9 Sun Jul 24 01:21:47 CEST 2005 i686 GNU/Linux -- I do not have usbfs compiled in, and if it's not absolutly necessarily, I would like to keep it that way. (It will take hours compiling a new kerneln, and the disk space is not enought currently). Since it was using libusb I presumed the usbfs wasn't needed? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcus Meissner (marcusmeissner) Date: 2006-02-17 22:04 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=48092 can you do: ls /proc/bus/usb it should show devices 001 at least. if it is empty, you have to mount the usbfs there. what kernel version do you use? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: speakman (speakman) Date: 2006-02-17 22:01 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=109960 bond:~# gphoto2 --list-ports Devices found: 5 Path Description -------------------------------------------------------------- serial:/dev/ttyS0 Serial Port 0 serial:/dev/ttyS1 Serial Port 1 serial:/dev/ttyS2 Serial Port 2 serial:/dev/ttyS3 Serial Port 3 usb: Universal Serial Bus bond:~# gphoto2 --list-cameras | grep -i ixus "Canon Digital IXUS" "Canon Digital IXUS 30 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 300" "Canon Digital IXUS 330" "Canon Digital IXUS 40 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 400" "Canon Digital IXUS 400 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 430 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 430 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 50 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 50 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 500 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 500 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 55 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 700 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 700 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS 750 (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS i (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS i (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS i5 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS II (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS II (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS IIs" "Canon Digital IXUS IIs (PTP mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS v" "Canon Digital IXUS v2" "Canon Digital IXUS v3 (normal mode)" "Canon Digital IXUS v3 (PTP mode)" bond:~# ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcus Meissner (marcusmeissner) Date: 2006-02-17 21:57 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=48092 Does gphoto2 --list-cameras | grep IXUS show any entries? I'm having serious problems getting my Ixus to work with gphoto, but I havn't used gphoto earlier either. It does says it can't find my camera model. Is it just the support list who's got this wrong, or should it be patched into (lib)gphoto as well? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Marcus Meissner (marcusmeissner) Date: 2006-02-17 19:53 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=48092 i guess it is a bug in the digital camera support list. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=108874&aid=1433269&group_id=8874 |
