I have just finished preparing the 0.8.0 release branch of GeoTools, for the main part this involved removing a large number of the less stable or newer classes so that we could release something solid. It has taken me a while to do this, partly because of the holidays, and also because I needed to get the hang of branches in CVS. I want to make available a Release Candidate based on the branch soon, but before I do I would like all the members of this list who have cvs setup to checkout a copy and make sure that all of the examples work, and if possible try out some of the utilities. (instructions on doing this are included at the end of this email) I would like to include .bat and .sh scripts for starting the build process (this would mean including a copy of ant.jar), any comments on how to make building for new uses as easy as possible would be much appreciated. I would also like to see some .bat and .sh scripts for as many of the utilities as possible, again contributions or suggestions would be welcome. Finally, let me know what you think of the release, do you think it will make sense to new users? Many thanks James Getting the release branch from CVS First find a directory to put the release into (process will create a directory called 'release' in that directory) Developers with full access to cvs try: cvs -z3 -d:ext:use...@cv...:/cvsroot/geotools co -r Release_0_8_x-branch release Users with anonymous access only try: cvs -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/geotools login <press enter - i.e. no password> cvs -z3 -d:pserver:ano...@cv...:/cvsroot/geotools co -r Release_0_8_x-branch release -- James Macgill Center for Computational Geography http://www.ccg.leeds.ac.uk Spell Checker (c) Creative Spelling inc (aka my dyslexic brain) http://www.geotools.org a client side java mapping toolkit. |
