Hi all, I think the mysql thread from a couple of days ago hinted at this problem, but what I'm trying to do is take one of many datasets that have a spatial reference (in this case census canada dissemination area - da) for every record, and in real time join one of those datasets with the da boundaries contained in a different table. It's an inner join that happens on the da ids. It would seem that doing this on the fly isn't possible with any of the current datastores... is that true? This must be a reasonably common task, so I'm wondering how others have handled the problem. The example from the mysql thread was doing a spatial join, which I understand to be a different problem. My initial reaction to this problem is the notion of a ResultSetDataStore to which you could pass the results of a query and so not have to worry about the joining at the datastore level. This is hackish and mixes logic with data access, but I'm just trying to get it to work. Any thoughts and comments appreciated. Thanks, Oliver |
