That's good to hear - thanks for letting us know what the problem was.
 It's always useful to have such things in the list archive for the
benefit of others searching later on.

By the way, have you tried osm2pgsql for transferring your road map
data into PostGIS ?  I think it might be easier than the method that
you're using.

I don't have much experience in this area, but I just tried building
the osm2pgsql utility (on mac osx) and using it to import some OSM
data into a local PostGIS database.  It seemed quite straightforward.
