Actually it looks like this was a misunderstanding over a closed thread, so please disregard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alec Myers" <al...@al...> To: <gal...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 12:30 PM Subject: Re: [Gallery-devel] Spam on GMC forum Just had this in a pm from Supersidr, who you will all know is a great contributor of modules and to the GMC forum in support, having been on the forum for longer than 5 years and with 3595 posts to date: <begin> Sorry the new spam blocker is unacceptable. I indeed receive the captcha while replying to this guy Annoying but understandable. But I now have no comment box on any other thread, so I can only answer one? -s <end> ----- Original Message ----- From: "Alec Myers" <al...@al...> To: <gal...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 7:54 AM Subject: Re: [Gallery-devel] Spam on GMC forum OK, that's great! I will report back in a while. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bharat Mediratta" <bh...@me...> To: "Dave Moore" <da...@la...> Cc: <gal...@li...> Sent: Wednesday, June 23, 2010 6:02 AM Subject: Re: [Gallery-devel] Spam on GMC forum I installed Mollom. It won't trigger for any privileged users (forum moderators, etc) but it should trigger for any other regular user. If you post something which looks like spam, it'll hit you with a captcha. Turns out, installing Mollom was easy. It's a pay service with a free initial entry, though -- if we go over a certain amount of legitimate traffic a day it'll try to upsell us from the free account to the paid one. Let's see how it does. Alec and Dave, please report back and let me know if this makes things better! (Or if it's completely broken and needs fixing!) -Bharat Dave Moore wrote: > I think that some form of recaptcha or Akismet for users with less > than 10 post should slow them down significantly. > > Dave > At 01:19 PM 6/22/2010, Bharat Mediratta wrote: >> On Tue, Jun 22, 2010 at 6:03 AM, Alec Myers <al...@al...> wrote: >>> I know this has been discussed before, but the spam filtering on GMC >>> needs >>> improving urgently - by those who have the credentials on the >> site to do so. >>> I'm currently deleting 20-40 spam posts per day, and it's just >>> ridiculous. >>> I've heard the line that "someone else" should go and research what to >>> do >>> about it and tell the project team what to do, but I know nothing about >>> Drupal.
