Is there a way to export a FreeMind file into OPML format? I have an application that I would like to import FreeMind into for use on my Iphone but it requires an OPML format.

If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:
File -> Export -> Using XSLT ....
Choose XSL File -> browse to the directory where you installed FreeMind -> then to 'accessories' -> select 'mm2opml.xsl'
choose ExportFile -> browse to wherever you want and give a file name ending in .opml (or whatever)
It seems to work, but I don't know if the result is meaningful.

The resulting OPML fails to import into carbonfin.com "outliner online". So, I can't convert the freemind mindmap to opml that carbonfin's outliner can use.
Anyone had success?

I was able to import a Freemind (v0.9.0) map into iThoughts on my iPhone and then export it as OPML from there before importing it into Carbonfin Outliner successfully. This was the same mindmap that I originally tried to export as OPML from Freemind and failed to import into Carbonfin Outliner.
The XLST converter needs work.

Eric,
Thanks that worked.
Mike
I would find this useful too but the export seems to ignore long nodes and nodes with notes?

Well - answering my own question…
